What is your name?
My name is Evelina Lavrova.
Tell us your position and name of your company
I’m Marketing & PR Director Waves World – Waves Mining Pool and crypto marketplace, and Founder & CEO DeCrypto PR.
What’s on your schedule today?
Today I’ve worked on this interview, finished my company’s website, packed my suitcase and am preparing for my trip to the Malta Blockchain Summit.
What was the last thing you googled?
I’m going to visit two of the biggest blockchain & tech conferences in Europe – the Malta Blockchain Summit and WebSummit in Lisbon, so I’ve been Googling local sights to visit and crypto meetups during these events.
Which social platform do you prefer – Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram and why?
I use all of them. Crypto people prefer Twitter, business connections are on LinkedIn, and the Russian tech and startups community uses Facebook. I just recently started to actively use Instagram. Also, I’m very active on Telegram, because again it’s popular with the crypto community and with Russians.
Women in Tech – What does that term mean to you?
There’s a lot of unspoken content that comes with that term. Women are in a minority in tech, and there are particular expectations that go with the territory – you can probably guess what some of them are. However, for me I see that there are particular opportunities, both as a woman in tech and for the tech industry itself as it becomes more open to women. In short, let’s remember that ‘women in tech’ is as much about the benefits for tech as it is about women!
What is the one question you wish people would ask you?
I don’t want to sound too Zen about this 🙂 But asking – genuinely seeking to learn something new – is what matters. If someone has that attitude, the question itself isn’t so important.
What’s the key to good networking?
It’s simple: Keep an open mind and be friendly.
What opportunity does tech offer women?
It is uniqueness: you are almost alone among a majority of men in tech companies. There are huge opportunities, much the same as there are in blockchain right now.
What’s the best advice your Mum has given you?
It is not my mum’s advice, but I read an interview with one very famous person. When she went to her mum and said that she wanted to go into show business, her mum answered: “You want to work in show business then don’t complain.”
What do you do to unwind?
I like listening to music, catching up on some sleep, and heading to the countryside and spending some time in nature.
Which learning resource (on or offline) would you recommend?
I like Coursera.
