  • Ernst & Young (EY) and Microsoft recently announced their partnership to launch a blockchain solution for content rights and royalties management

  • The partnership is aiming to streamline the costly and time-consuming processes in entertainment rights and royalties, as well as increasing trust and transparency

  • The blockchain technology can be used where intellectual property or assets are licensed to other parties and where the creators are paid royalties based on royalty agreements; such as authors, song writers, production houses, developers and more

  • The service is first being tested by Ubisoft, Microsoft’s gaming partner and one of the world’s leading game publishers

  • Loic Amans, Senior Vice President, Finance & Strategic Planning at Ubisoft commented: “We are always looking at how to leverage emerging technologies in all facets of our business. The opportunity to collaborate with EY and Microsoft on blockchain use cases in the domain of digital contracts and royalties is truly exciting.”
